Ethos
Our Ethos
We are a happy, friendly, busy school with children who love to be here! Learning, Sharing & Caring are our core values and can be seen in everything we do.
Children join our Nursery class at 3 years old and stay with us until the end of Year 2 when they move the the Junior school. 60 children are in each year group, taught in 2 classes of 30 children. All children are taught in single age classes, we do not have mixed age classes.
From the beginning, Shadsworth Infant School is committed to providing the highest standard of teaching and learning plus the all round development of every child. Our Learning Challenge curriculum promotes an enquiry based approach where children can ask questions, find solutions and discover their topics with the richest of experiences. We develop basic skills such as reading, writing and maths as quickly as possible, in order to build knowledge and skills to further each child's learning. Alongside this, we offer wider opportunities such as music, sport, art and Forest school plus a broad range of after school clubs which continue to develop children holistically. Social, Emotional, Cultural and Moral values are entwined daily. Together, this ensures each child achieves the best outcomes with high expectations and a desire for success.
Shadsworth Bear supports our 3 rules, 'Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe'. These underpin our core values of 'Learning, Sharing & Caring'. We build confident, resilient children who love to come to school. Ofsted describe us as 'An oasis of calm'. We hold aspiration days and use our minibus to go on trips and visits as often as possible.
Through working together with parents, families, governors, staff and children we support each other everyday with enough challenge to be the best we can be. We go the extra mile everyday to give the best possible life chance to our children.
Our website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.
If you are considering choosing this school for your child then please call and arrange a visit.
